The Presbyterian Youth Triennium has a rich history of worldwide and ecumenical participation. Over the years young people from countries across the globe have attended the Triennium. The experience of both the Global Partners and the USA participants has been one of great insight, education and inspiration!
Global Partners are youth (or young adults in some countries) who are active with Presbyterian, Reformed or associated reformed churches across the world, who attend the Triennium as guests of a particular presbytery. We are excited that the Global Partner program will again be a feature of the Triennium!
How to sponsor a Global Partner
Presbyteries have been invited to explore sponsoring a Global youth from one of their mission partnerships (e.g. a presbytery might have a partnership with a church in South Africa, Guatemala, Malawi, Japan, etc...). Sponsorship involves a financial and hosting commitment on the part of the presbytery. Presbyteries will cover the travel, local housing and program expenses of the Global Partner(s).
While at Triennium...
Global Partners will travel and be housed with the sponsoring presbytery's delegation. While at Purdue the Global Partners will participate in special Global Partner Small Groups, have access to the Global Partner Lounge and be assisted by Global Partner staff and volunteers.
The PYT staff is working to establish a contract staff position for Global Partners to serve as the primary contact and administrator of the Global Partner program. This person will work with presbyteries, Homeland Security, the federal and international governments to establish visas, travel arrangements and cultural exchanges.
